Which Is More Important: The Sales Team or The Marketing Team?
After nearly 5 years in business for myself, I now know that if you can figure out the right way to market, the sales process is a darned breeze. Too bad that, of all the money I spent on “how-to-sell” books, I don’t recall a single one of them ever pointing-out how much easier the sales process is if you plan, implement, and execute good, solid marketing initiatives that hit the prospect just right.
Great Marketing Produces Great Sales
After nearly 5 years in business for myself, I now know that if you can figure out the right way to market, the sales process is a darned breeze.
Up until right about now, I dreaded the “selling process” for many reasons. One, I wasn’t a natural “sales person.” On the Myers-Briggs test of personality types, I am categorized as an INTJ. In short, I’m not naturally geared to selling, either myself, or the goods and services of others.
But, with some recent success with my own marketing initiatives, a lot of things are clicking into place with me gaining more solid prospects AND, most importantly, prospects actually seeking me out for ideas.
So, I am now convinced that the most important skill for someone to master (or, for any business entity to master) is the art of figuring out exactly who is in your target market, and figuring-out how best to promote yourself and your services to them…and, do it in a way that breaks through the clutter of all of marketing messages sent by your competitors.
That’s my opinion on the ever-present battle of what to focus most of your resources (time and money) on, Sales or Marketing?
What do you think about my conclusions?
